Cumbria Cross Country League, Carlisle (Sheepmount),

This event is the one which was postponed on 5th December, rushed through to Carlisle straight from work  Andrew martindale registered me so i just had to meet up with him and get my number. As it turned out i had loads of time so we had a good warm up, and another, and another, the race was rather late at starting there didn't seem a lot of runners here, but there was a good turn out for Eden runners But no Stu, who was out through injury. I think he is running scared after seeing my super fast performance at Keswick! get well soon mate and well done in the vets. When the race got on the way i stuck to my game plan nice and steady untill i got  caught up by Andrew in the next group. They had a 2.5 min hcap. I would try to tag along for a couple of hundred metres then drop off again. It was on the 2nd lap when i was caught, i managed to keep just behind for a little bit as planned. So far so good, then felt the stiffness in the quads and calf's the going was fairly heavy. the last part of my plan was to fly on the last lap. It didn't happen. I think it was my fastest lap but no were near what i was wanting, just to sore on the old legs. When i did finish i was well chuffed because after stopping for a crack with everyone there was no pain in my feet which was my main concern, i think i am over the worst with the plantar fascitis which i picked up in may last year through over training for the Skiddaw race. Ended up just going out taking photos of races for the rest of the season, that is were i met Stu on Skiddaw also armed with the camera it wasn't the best of days as you can see on some of these photos.

Cumbria Cross Country League 2010/11 - Race 4 - Fitz Park, Keswick, Cumbria

I decided to have a go at this race to see how my foot would hold out after injuring it in may last year whilst training for the Skiddaw race. I went down to keswick with my mate Andrew martindale  The ground was frozen over in lots of places so the going was tough, on the second lap of four i nearly pulled out after banging  my heel on a raised sod, but tried to run it off ,finishing in a time of 45.38. immediately after the race i was talking to James douglas and Chris steele.  James won in a time of 30.38 / 36.38 after adding the 6 min hcap, and Chris was a close 2nd in a time of 31.21 / 37.21 after adding the 6 min hcap. Andrew had a time of 40.30. I could barely lift my foot off the ground after talking for just a couple of mins, i thought i had made a big mistake running with the ground being so hard, however the next day it started to settle down a bit so i was on the phone to Andrew to tell him i would be up for the Carlisle one on the 13th of feb.
